Don Antonio

LACOSTA, the fourth solo work by musician and producer Antonio Gramentieri, aka Don Antonio, released last July 28, produced by Crinale Lab, with Orchard digital distribution. An entirely instrumental record, very intimate and emotional, with bare sounds and large open spaces.

"This record began to take shape at the end of 2021. It is a work born around compositions commissioned from me in that period, all inspired in some way by a reflection on belonging and on the territory.
They are short pieces, composed in solitude and recorded in very spontaneous takes, with a bare-bones set of instruments, in a country cottage, with the musicians I've collaborated with the most in recent years.
Some compositions, recorded in different versions, have been used for a film broadcast by Rai Due, for a cycle of commercials for wine cellars in our hills, for a Netflix docu-fiction and for other works.
Despite the diversity of commissions and paths, these compositions are nevertheless daughters of the same inspiration and the same familiar places. Those from which I have often left and to which I have always returned in these years of music and travel.
Lacosta is a reflection on a place that throughout my life has continued to define me, to welcome me, to take care of me. It is music that speaks of a very intimate relationship with my land.
For a series of coincidences this record had not yet found the right time to be completed and released, until today.
Lacosta, La Costa, is a road: a road that I have traveled since childhood, to which I associate many meanings, and today one of the many wounded roads in our country, damaged or irreparably changed following the floods and landslides of May 2023 .
The whole territory, the voice of the territory that inspired me in composing the songs changed in a few hours. The hills have awakened with a different profile. The landscape and the look on the territory have changed.
With them the sound and breath of a land has changed.
An awareness that completes a season, personal and collective, and opens a new one, necessarily different.
A record that completes a season, personal and collective, and opens a new one, necessarily different."
(Don Antonio, summer 2023)

NOTE:
All proceeds from this first edition of the disc, physical and digital, will contribute to the emergency fund for Modigliana, managed by the ProLoco / Civil Protection / Firefighting Volunteer Nucleus.
Lacosta is not a charity record, it is not a crowdfunding. It's a record that tries to tell the land where he was born and from which he was inspired, and tries to give something back to it. The disc was made thanks also to the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region, as part of the 2021 Call of the L.R. 2/2018 "Regulations on the development of the music sector".
